UNDEFEATED LIGHTWEIGHT DEONTE BROWN EXPECTS FIREWORKS IN MAIN EVENT AGAINST DENNIS CONTRERAS FRIDAY NIGHT ON DAZN

Red Owl Boxing's BOXFEST series, the premier destination for boxing's up-and-coming fighters, returns with its first edition of 2025 on Friday, April 4 at 9PM ET/8PM CT when the event streams live on DAZN globally in more than 200 territories and regions from the state-of-the-art "Owl's Nest" in Houston.
The main event of BOXFEST XIV will now feature undefeated lightweight Deonte Brown (15-0, 11 KOs) against rugged veteran Dennis Contreras (24-17-1, 22 KOs) in an eight round fight at 135 pounds. The previously scheduled main event of BOXFEST XIV, an eight-round super bantamweight fight between Japhethlee Llamido (12-1, 4 KOs) and Carlos Jackson (20-2, 13 KOs) was postponed due Llamido falling ill in the final days of training camp in Japan.
"I'm excited, It's a blessing," said Brown of Morgan City, Louisiana. "I thought I was the co-main and then they moved me into the main event, which makes me want to put on a good show."
Brown, 29, will end a three-year layoff when he faces Contreras at BOXFEST XIV. In his last traditional boxing match, the southpaw stopped then undefeated top-10 lightweight Jesus Saracho in March 2022. Brown competed in the team-based Team Combat League in 2023 as part of the Dallas Enforcers, stringing together several good appearances in those outings. Brown rides a five-fight knockout streak heading into his comeback fight, which he thinks will continue in the main event this Friday in Houston.
"I don't think he can match my skill set," added Brown. "I know he's very experienced but I'm in shape and am ready for whatever. I don't think it's going the distance."
Fighting out of Guadalajara, Mexico, Contreras will return to the United States for his fourth consecutive fight. The 32-year-old veteran has never been stopped while fighting in the U.S. despite being 4-4 in his eight U.S fights. His come-forward style has earned him 22 knockouts in his career which could prove to be the key to toppling the undefeated Brown, who has only been knocked down once in his career
Slotting in as the co-main event, Francisco Javier Martinez (7-1, 4 KOs) out of Dallas will face Wayne Lawrence (7-1, 4 KOs) in a six-round battle at 133 pounds. Both fighters are coming off the first loss of their professional careers and looking to get back on track in Houston.
Rounding out the night of action on DAZN, highly ranked undefeated super featherweight Gabriela Tellez (4-0) will face Lindsey Ellis (2-2, 2 KOs) in a four-round bout in addition to the professional debut of Houston's Alex Donis who will take on Andrew Flamm (1-0) in a welterweight fight to open the DAZN portion of the event.
